Esta ha sido una semana movidita para los usuarios de Power BI: han salido novedades realmente interesantes 🚀. Os las resumo enseguida para que estéis totalmente al día. Pero antes, algo importante para todos los que me habéis preguntado por las ofertas de Black Friday.
Como en años anteriores voy a sacar una oferta muy limitada, pero este año creo que es especialmente importante que la tengáis en cuenta 👀.

🛠️ Power BI Modeling MCP Server: el cambio de juego que esperábamos
Microsoft ha lanzado este mes de noviembre de 2025 el Power BI Modeling MCP Server en Public Preview.
Te cuento por qué muchos lo llaman un “game changer” y cómo empezar a sacarle jugo hoy:
1️⃣ 🧩 Qué es y dónde vive
Es un servidor que implementa Model Context Protocol (MCP) para que LLMs y agentes de IA interactúen con tu modelado semántico de Power BI.
Se instala como extensión de VS Code.
Habilita modelado “asistido por IA” con clientes como GitHub Copilot o Claude Desktop.
Está en Public Preview dentro de las novedades de noviembre 2025.

2️⃣ 🔌 Conexión a tus modelos
Funciona con modelos abiertos en Power BI Desktop (instancia local de AS).
Conecta a Fabric Workspaces; Microsoft está resolviendo un posible fallo de autenticación.
Trabaja con proyectos PBIP y TMDL en modo offline.
Mac: soporte previsto muy pronto.
3️⃣ 🤖 NL2M y flujos agénticos
Describe la intención y el agente crea o modifica tablas, columnas, medidas y relaciones.
Genera medidas DAX complejas entendiendo el contexto (relaciones inactivas, etc.).
Permite workflows agénticos para planificar y ejecutar tareas de modelado de forma autónoma.
Ideal cuando editas PBIP/TMDL como código.
4️⃣ 📦 Operaciones masivas a escala
Haz bulk operations para renombrar, traducir y refactorizar cientos de objetos en segundos.
Refactoriza medidas en Calculation Groups o UDF.
Configura RLS de forma consistente y transaccional.
Convierte horas de trabajo repetitivo en minutos.
5️⃣ 🧰 Calidad, documentación y mejores prácticas
La IA evalúa y aplica best practices de modelado con rapidez.
Puede desactivar la fecha automática o revisar relaciones bidireccionales cuando no tocan.
Documentación automática en Markdown de tablas, columnas, medidas y M code.
Añade descripciones claras y consistentes a todo el modelo.
6️⃣ 🧪 Consulta y validación DAX
Ejecuta y depura consultas DAX conversacionalmente contra tu modelo.
Analiza rendimiento con caché limpia y métricas detalladas.
Haz benchmark entre versiones del modelo (p. ej., “V1” vs “V2”).
Cierra el bucle: prueba, mide y mejora.
7️⃣ ☁️ Servidor MCP Remoto (preview)
Acceso seguro y habilitado por agentes a modelos en la nube con Entra ID.
Herramientas: Get Semantic Model Schema, Generate Query (NL→DAX optimizado) y Execute Query.
Pensado para escenarios multi-agente y operaciones controladas en Fabric.
Trae la IA a donde están tus datos.
8️⃣ ⚠️ Riesgos y gobernanza
Los LLMs pueden sorprender: haz copia de seguridad antes de cambios masivos.
Cumple Elicitation MCP: requiere tu aprobación antes de la primera modificación o consulta.
Seguridad con Entra ID y permisos RBAC de Fabric: el agente solo hace lo que tú puedes hacer.
La gobernanza es clave para reducir riesgos en entornos enterprise.

🖥️ La nueva Card de Power BI: adiós a la multirow (y hola a todo lo demás)
Otra novedad en Power BI, te traigo lo mejor del nuevo Card visual de Power BI y por qué deberías migrar ya.
1️⃣ 💡 Múltiples valores en una sola tarjeta
Ahora puedes añadir varios puntos de datos en la misma tarjeta.
Sustituye tanto a la Card clásica como a la Multirow.
Misma idea, pero con formato y control a otro nivel.
2️⃣ 🖼️ Hero images que dan contexto
Destaca una métrica con una imagen clara y memorable.
Puedes cargar, pegar URL o tomarla desde datos.
Controla el tamaño (p. ej., 64 px) y el encaje.
Perfecto para logotipos, productos o equipos.
3️⃣ 🧩 Multi-Category & collage dinámico
Añade una Categoría para crear small multiples.
Elige mosaicos o tabla según el caso.
Prueba el layout collage: una grande, dos apoyando.
Define vertical/horizontal, tope de tarjetas y orden de callout, label e imagen.
4️⃣ 🎨 Estilo moderno (shape, sombra, glow)
Pasa a rectángulo redondeado en segundos.
Activa sombra y resplandor para una UI cuidada.
Añade la Accent Bar para jerarquía visual.
Los valores por defecto ya vienen con tipografía y espaciado más limpios.
5️⃣ 🔎 Tooltips que cuentan historias
Incluye campos en el tooltip para detalles rápidos.
O usa una página de informe como tooltip interactivo.
El contenido cambia según la tarjeta bajo el cursor.
Misma métrica, más contexto y cero ruido.
6️⃣ 🛠️ GA = pulido fino y consistencia
Mejoras en alineación de la callout image.
Fondo que no se repite si no llena el contenedor.
Nuevo control de Padding en la referencia.
Autogrid evita columnas vacías y ordena mejor.

🖼️ El nuevo visual de imagen: botones, navegación y marca en Power BI
Pues todavía hay más. Power BI estrena un visual de imagen con muchísima más flexibilidad y control. Te cuento cómo usarlo para convertir simples imágenes en elementos interactivos que guían la experiencia del informe.
1️⃣ 🧩 Qué hay de nuevo
El visual ya no es “una imagen pegada”.
Ahora admite formato dinámico y comportamientos interactivos.
Perfecto para navegación, branding y rutas guiadas en páginas.
Integra multimedia sin fricciones en el lienzo y mejora la narrativa de datos.
2️⃣ 🎛️ Estados visuales que responden
En Style → Apply settings to defines el formato por estado.
Cuatro estados: All, Default, Hover y Pressed.
Combínalos con Action para dar pistas visuales (bordes/sombras).
Ejemplo: resalta al Hover y refuerza el clic con Pressed.
3️⃣ 🧭 Acciones que convierten imágenes en botones
Activa Page navigation para moverte entre páginas.
O abre una Web URL directamente desde la imagen.
Con estados + acciones puedes crear botones pulidos y accesibles.
Tip: incluso puedes usar SVGs generados dinámicamente como fuente.
4️⃣ 🗂️ Fuentes de imagen:
Upload image: sube un archivo local en segundos.
Enter URL: vincula a una imagen alojada en la web.
Select from data: usa el modelo (p. ej., una medida DAX con URLs).
Ideal para branding dinámico o iconografía condicionada por datos.
5️⃣ 🖌️ Estilo avanzado en el panel Format
Controla el Corner radius desde Shape para esquinas suaves.
Define Border con grosor y estilo coherente con tu tema.
Añade Background para contraste y accesibilidad.
Aplica variaciones por estado para una UX clara y consistente.
6️⃣ ⚠️ Rendimiento y detalles finos
Imágenes grandes pueden afectar al rendimiento: optimiza y comprime.
Al publicar en el servicio, el control muestra “Uploaded file” como nombre.
Cuida el tamaño, el alt text y la coherencia de colores/contraste.
Menos fricción, más guía visual para el usuario final.

Microsoft has released the Power BI Modeling MCP Server in Public Preview this November 2025.

Now it supports dynamic formatting and interactive behavior.
Perfect for navigation, branding, and guided page flows.
Integrate media seamlessly on the canvas and improve your data narrative.

In Style → Apply settings to, define formatting per state.
Four states: All, Default, Hover, and Pressed.
